Born in Pune. Rooted in Keralam.
I'm Sharanya Nair, born and brought up in Pune, but Keralam has always been an important part of home for me.
Growing up away from Keralam, there was one small challenge that kept repeating itself. Whenever I wanted something that felt truly authentic — a favourite snack, a particular ingredient, something traditional for the home, or a special find from Keralam — I would often wait for a trip back home, bring it with me, or ask family and friends travelling from Keralam to carry it for me.
Of course, Keralam products are available in Pune and online today. But I often found myself asking the same question:
"Is this really the same thing I would bring back from Keralam?"
And that simple question eventually became the idea behind Little Keralam.
I wanted to create a place where people like me wouldn't have to wait for their next Keralam trip — or someone's suitcase — to enjoy the things they love.
But I also didn't want Little Keralam to be just another grocery store.
Keralam is so much more than what's in our kitchen. It's the smell of freshly made banana chips, Nendran bananas on the counter, a beautiful Kasavu saree, the glow of a nilavilakku, spices from home, handcrafted treasures, familiar flavours and the little things that instantly remind you of Keralam.
Little Keralam is my attempt to bring all of that a little closer to home.
We're starting online, right here in Pune, carefully bringing together food, fresh produce, traditional wear, handicrafts, home décor and gifts that celebrate Keralam.
And someday, I hope Little Keralam becomes a place you can actually walk into —
a little piece of Keralam, right here in Pune.
